Ruben Villaseñor is a self taught horsemen. His exposure to horses came at an early age. His first time on a horse was at the age of 3. When he was 12 his father gave him and his brother some range horses that needed to be started, with no prior experience in the great art of taming wild horses Ruben set out to accomplish the task that was expected of him. He loved the experience, but never intended to be a horse trainer, although he knew that he wanted horses to be part of his life forever. As a boy Ruben would learn horsemanship by watching the many horsemen he admired; including his father and maternal Grandfather who were greatly respected for their horsemanship skills.

Over the years Ruben has refined his skills and developed his own methods. He uses traditional tools such as the Bosal a.k.a Hackamore; in fact they are exactly the same as the ones his father and grandfather used when they started horses. He uses the bosal to start all horses, and believes that this is the ideal tool when coupled with the correct knowledge of how to fit and use it most effectively.
